Do you and your family do the same uninteresting things whenever you get together? Do you find it difficult to impress your children, grandchildren or siblings? Do you spend all your rainy summer nights sitting indoors reading the most recent Facebook updates?

Growing up in a big family I know that one of the most challenging things is getting the whole family together to spend a fun afternoon with one another.  It is difficult to find a day where everyone’s schedules align to participate in something everyone agrees on.

Whether it’s a family game night that ends in tears, a family trip to a local attraction that takes weeks of saving up for, or a movie night where no one even says a word to one another, fun, affordable, family-oriented activities are difficult to come by. Fortunately, Calvary Chapel’s Plantation campus is hosting “Family Sunday Funday: Laser Tag” on July 22nd.

Calvary Chapel has nine campuses including: Florida Keys, West Boca, Fort Lauderdale, a Web Campus, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and their Plantation campus.  The Plantation campus thrives on their culturally diverse community of believers.

They offer services on Wednesday, Saturday and two on Sunday with services in English and Spanish. The Plantation campus has many family friendly events and classes throughout the year and they offer several exciting family-oriented events during the summer months such as nights of prayer, connect classes, Camp127, and special events such as Family Sunday

    Funday laser tag.

“With this event we are trying to connect people to people, and to connect people to outreach.”

Like a real life video game, laser tag is a thrilling, interactive, pain free game played with infrared laser beams and infrared sensitive targets worn by players. Calvary Chapel is meeting off campus at LaserQuest, located at 2101 N University Dr Suite A, Sunrise, FL 33322. With a 4.5 star rating, LaserQuest is the leader in the world’s laser tag industry with over 90 million games played since their first opening. Their laser tag arena has the capacity to house up to 32 players at a time! Along with laser tag they offer escape rooms, mazes and group packages.  With Calvary Chapel’s Family Sunday Funday group deal you can play 2 games for only $15 a person at the door.

Calvary Chapel’s family ministry department is focused on planning monthly events to bring families at the Plantation campus closer together. In June they planned a churchwide picnic. July is the laser tag event, and August will be a back to school kickoff party.  They are hoping for 50-70 families to attend.

A representative from the family ministry department said, “With this event we are trying to connect people to people, and to connect people to outreach.” She said that the family ministry department wants an event that everyone can come to: members of the church, visitors, and the church volunteers that do not necessarily get to spend time with their families at church. The team at Calvary Chapel is making a conscious effort to bring people together and make witnessing easier.

“We want this to be the kind of thing people will ask their neighbors to come to.”
They are making opportunities to bring people to meet Jesus in a non-threating environment outside of church.

So, instead of Monopoly or feeding ducks at a park, for only $15 and no registration, bring your family to an inexpensive and thrilling night of fun on July 22nd , from 6-9pm at 2101 N University Dr Suite A, Sunrise, FL 33322.  All invited, all included, all guaranteed a fun time. We hope to see you there!
